Tennis Term 2
Room Fourteen takes on Tennis
This term in Room 14 we have been learning to develop our tennis skills. We learnt how to pick up our racket correctly by making an L with our hand and picking it up off the ground making sure your fingers always face the ground.
We had to practise controlling the ball and trying to keep it in the sweet spot. The Sweet spot is in the centre of the racket, we need to use the sweet spot to hit the ball in the right direction.
Practise makes perfect right? So we had to practise keeping the ball in the sweet spot while balancing on one leg.
It was very challenging but it helped us to learn how to control our racket.
Ben mastered it!
Then it was time to test out our racket and ball control on the courts! We soon learned how problematic the wind can be when we were trying to aim in the right direction.
Here we were practising hitting the ball across the court to our partner, then sandwiching it with our racket in the sweet spot.
Our tennis trainer was really good, he showed us some awesome tricks. I wonder if we will be as tall as him one day!
Standing side on to the ball was something we had to learn to do to become better tennis players.
We had so much fun and started to really show some skills on the tennis court. I wonder if any of us will continue to play tennis in the future?
