Samoan Language Week
Samoan Assembly
Talofa Lava! Last week was Samoan Language week in New Zealand. At May Road School we embraced some Samoan cultural practices each day and concluded our week with a very special Samoan Assembly. Here is a clip of the boys performing the Siva Tau:
They did so well, they performed with passion, unity and pride. It was great to see so many students across the school take part in the special celebration performance, can you spot the Room 14 students?
Thanks to the hard work of Mrs Key, Mrs Tamarua and all the students involved they were able to put together an amazing performance in just a couple of days. Lots of families came to watch and celebrate the Samoan culture.
The beautiful harmonies filled the hall and our hearts as we experienced a taste of Samoan culture that shone with pride in the faces of those performers. It was great to see everyone get involved from all different cultures to celebrate together!

Hi there, my name is Samoa and I am in room 7 from Pt England School. These are very amazing dances you have been performing to your school. In our school we always celebrate Samoan language week and also other sorts of other cultures. It is really cool to see other schools performing and celebrating your own culture.
