New Zealand Flag Referendum!

In Room 14 we did lots of learning about the New Zealand Flag Referendum. We discussed different people's points of view and even debated our own opinions on the matter, before heading off to cast our very own vote. Room 15 set up our voting headquarters with trained official officers and vote counters. It was a very serious and professional referendum that allowed our students' voices to be heard. We entered the voting headquarters knowing which flag we were voting for and why. When the official results were counted and scrutinised the school wide announcement was made... the new flag won our May Road School Flag Referendum! Now we anxiously await the results of the nationwide vote!

  1. Kia ora Room 14. What a wonderful way to learn about our democracy in New Zealand and how important it is to vote so that your voice will be heard. Now you are informed citizens you can encourage everyone in your family to vote too. Well done.
